The Thorn Keeper will sweep you away to war-torn England in the midst of WWII's worst battles. We saw how Catherine interacted with those that didn't believe she could change her ways (David's sister, Jessica, comes to mind) and how her new-found way of living saved and helped several women and families in the village, as well as the hospital where she was a nurse.Īll in all, a very enjoyable read from a new favorite author. Catherine was living a redeemed life fragile at times, but very strong in her belief that God chose her. I enjoyed all the secondary characters, especially Madame and the sewing girls.īoth Catherine and David cared about the people they were serving, not about decrees from higher society norms. How awesome is that? Their wedding scene, followed by their retreat to the cottage tell just enough to keep the reader's imagination going. Catherine and David's love story begins with a prayer. This book combined all 3 of these for me. I enjoy historical fiction books, Christian fiction and a good romance (nothing too graphic!). I do think reading the first book is helpful, to know Catherine's backstory. I actually think I enjoyed Catherine's story more than Ashleigh's (from book 1, The Thorn Bearer). I recently finished The Thorn Keeper, book 2 of the Penned in Time Series.
