We saw how Catherine interacted with those that didn't believe she could change her ways (David's sister, Jessica, comes to mind) and how her new-found way of living saved and helped several women and families in the village, as well as the hospital where she was a nurse.Īll in all, a very enjoyable read from a new favorite author. Catherine was living a redeemed life fragile at times, but very strong in her belief that God chose her. I enjoyed all the secondary characters, especially Madame and the sewing girls.īoth Catherine and David cared about the people they were serving, not about decrees from higher society norms. How awesome is that? Their wedding scene, followed by their retreat to the cottage tell just enough to keep the reader's imagination going. ![]() Catherine and David's love story begins with a prayer. This book combined all 3 of these for me. I enjoy historical fiction books, Christian fiction and a good romance (nothing too graphic!). ![]() I do think reading the first book is helpful, to know Catherine's backstory. I really think I would have preferred a less urban setting for this series and definitely one away from Hollywood. As with any new series, there were a lot of new characters to get to know, and I'm not sure that I really liked most of these characters. That seems to be more in keeping with expected police procedure than some cozy mysteries where a husband or boyfriend continues the investigation when the main character is involved. Can Molly clear her own name before she lands in jail? One thing I liked is that Molly's boyfriend removed himself from the investigation when she was found at the scene of the crime. Molly and her friend take up crochet to help relieve some of the stress. When the group's leader turns up dead and Molly is found over the dead body, she becomes suspect number 1 for the officer in charge of the investigation. Over time, however, and importantly even after Roddenberry's death, the sequel series proved to not only live up to the legacy of the original "Trek," but take on a confidently unique personality of its own, largely in part because of Stewart's magnetic performance.
